Mary's Restaurant at Falls Cottage

History
Located in the West End business district of downtown Greenville, Falls Cottage was built in 1893 by W.E. Touchstone, the superintendent of Camperdown Mills. Just as the home was being finished, Camperdown Mills closed down and Mr. Touchstone moved to Alabama. The ownership of the home continually changed hands, even at one point becoming a service station.

Renovation
With all the changes of ownership the cottage had fallen into a state of disarray, unrecognizable as being the same beautiful home built by Mr. Touchstone. The 1970's brought the effort to begin the revitalization of Falls Park in downtown Greenville. With this revitalization also came plans to restore the old Touchstone home to its original look. The home was to become a a "gateway" to the historic park. During its renovation it received its name of Falls Cottage as it has one of the best views overlooking Falls Park.

After its renovation Falls Cottage became the home of the Metropolitan Arts Council. Since 2004 the cottage has been the home of Mary's Restaurant, one of Greenville's most popular restaurants. With its beautiful views and prestigious garden, Falls Cottage has become one of the premiere attractions at Falls Park.
